Amazon & Apple Give Refurbishers The Boot

Yesterday companies who sell on Amazon received an update, from Amazon directly, about their program. “As part of the deal, only retailers who have been authorized by Apple can sell Beats and Apple products on Amazon.com.”

They stated you can apply through Apple directly if you would like to become authorized by Apple to sell on Amazon. This means Apple has full control of who can or who cannot sell Apple products through Amazon. As we have seen in the past, if this is anything like becoming an authorized repair center, this will be non-existent. Apple has not accepted any authorized repair centers in nearly a decade.

It will be interesting to see how this plays out. This is a huge blow to consumers and refurbishing businesses. Although we cut most of our eBay & Amazon selling out a few years ago (we did for this exact reason) there are thousands of other refurbishers out there like us who counted on Amazon in our businesses success.

Check out Motherboard Vice article with John Bumstead who I have met on several occasions here. John runs a great refurbishing business & has help advocate for the Right to Repair bill.
